ERP Business Software Consultants

We are adding to our team and are looking for both Senior and Intermediate level consultants

These roles are all about making a difference to your clients’ business processes and adding real value to their overall business.

In simple terms, “you’re always looking at peoples’ processes and trying to find improvements.”

Your key purpose is to work with your clients to understand their business processes and needs, to make recommendations, to implement ERP software and to work with them on an ongoing basis so that they continue to get the best value for their organisation.

There are two roles – the Senior role will be great for an experienced ERP consultant; while the Intermediate role is fantastic for someone looking to apply their commercial knowledge to a software & business consulting role.

You will join the Christchurch Ōtautahi ERP team, working independently and as part of the ERP team.

What You’ll Be Doing?

Your responsibilities include:

  • Understanding your client’s business to ensure you can provide an effective solution that is valued by them
  • Analysing client systems and work to define requirements, design and propose solutions, configure the software, deliver solutions and train their employees
  • Proactively working with your clients to uncover opportunities to add value and increase Focus’ sales
  • Providing technical software support and advice - on-site at the client’s premises, remotely and over the phone
  • Delivering ‘best practise’ consultancy and software support to ensure the integrity and safety of the client’s systems and data is always maintained

About You

Ideally, you will have some, or all, of the following:

  • You are a team player, who really cares about doing the best for your clients and colleagues
  • A good level of commercial understanding; you may even have run or managed a business
  • An understanding of accounting, stock inventory, job costings, warehouse and / or distribution functions of business
  • You will enjoy being analytical and solving problems, carrying out pieces of work such as needs analysis and process mapping
  • You are a fabulous communicator. Not just the typical reading/writing/presenting communication skills lots of jobs ask for. This includes being confident working across all levels of organisations; having a strong understanding of questioning and interviewing techniques to ensure you really understand the right outcomes for clients and even having confident courageous conversations

You may also have:

  • Previous experience within implementing and /or support for ERP Systems
  • Previous experience with relational databases, Microsoft Excel, Power BI and report writing
  • Experience with MYOB Advanced or MYOB Exo

The Senior Consultant will have:

  • All of the above but in much more depth
  • You will have been across a number of complex implementations and projects with strong experience in the leading, design and delivery of these
  • The Senior Consultant enjoys the technical leadership, guiding and coaching the less experienced consultants
  • They are also proactive in their own personal development, the improvement of processes within our organisation as well as our clients

  • This is the kind of role where you have a lot of autonomy and might suit those who feel confined in their current job and want something more interesting
  • You’re always looking at peoples’ processes and trying to find improvements
  • You need to be able to take the technical side of things and translate it to the client, but it is not a purely technical role. It’s more important to have perseverance, an analytical mind and be open to learn
  • There’s lots of change – the products, growing customers, and even in Focus – it keeps it interesting
  • We must be innovative and creative with our clients – every client has different needs

Ranae, now the Advanced Team Leader, has been a consultant for many years. She takes us through what a fairly typical day would be for you; meeting clients, creating solutions, fixing issues, working with the team.

Andrea is the Christchurch Branch manager and will be keen to support you in your journey to success as a Business Software Consultant. She speaks candidly about what she offers as as a leader and what she expects from her people.

Graeme is the most recent consultant with about 3 year’s experience but still remembers how things started off, so has some useful insights to any new team member. Graeme shares his learning journey and how he finds great value in the work he does.
