With this free app, you will no longer need to search your house, top to bottom, for your USB cable in order to access your phone or tablet files from a computer. Using AirDroid, you can access and manage your Android phone or tablet from a desktop or laptop wirelessly – no cables required.
Airdroid makes your multi-device life simpler by helping you to access and manage your phone from any computer, anywhere. Send txt messages, view app notifications, transfer files and fully control your phone on a computer with Airdroid.
Firstly, to use AirDroid, your two devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. From there it’s a pretty simple setup, all you need to do is download the app on your phone from Google Play, launch the app, and it does most of the work for you by creating a link between your phone and your web browser.
It provides all the guidance you need along the way to get connected, making it a super simple process.
AirDroid offers two web addresses that you can use to complete the link; one is an IP address that makes a direct connection, while the other is web.android.com, which will link the two once you’ve entered the supplied passcode.
Once connected, you can use AirDroid’s web interface to navigate through the contents of your phone. View photos and videos, transfer files between the computer and the phone, or view your collection of Android apps, installing and uninstalling these as you like. Other things you can do include reading and sending txt messages from your browser, and sharing clipboard text between your computer and phone.
AirDroid allows you to organise contacts, check and delete call logs, plus upload and download ringtones with absolute ease.
The desktop app uses a simple navigation panel on the left-hand side of the app. The navigation includes options for sending files to and from your mobile device, receiving and sending txt messages, viewing your call log or contact list, viewing app notifications, and mirroring.
With the desktop app, you can also accept or dismiss phone calls right from your desktop, though the actual phone call still happens on the phone itself. When dismissing calls, you can choose to send a txt message like “call you later” or “in a meeting”, or simply dismiss the call.
While this isn’t a particularly new application, AirDroid has improved significantly over the past few years. Through new features being added, better technology, plus more functionality, AirDroid has become a very simple and useful app that can help you manage and backup the files from your mobile device.
AirDroid provides you with everything you need to access and manage your Android phone or tablet from Windows, Mac or the Web, wirelessly, for free.
