04 April 2016 > Software, MYOB Exo,

MYOB have just released the latest version of their Employer Services software for New Zealand,  2016.1

This release includes the yearly tax rate updates, but also includes very important changes to the way Leave is processed based on the IRD directive last year for how PAYE should be calculated on Holiday Pay.

Once updated, your version information should be as follows:

MYOB EXO Payroll (NZ) 2016.01
MYOB EXO Health and Safety 2016.01

For full information, please see the official MYOB release notes at the end of this article for more information. The short version is:

In leave Management, the “Number of Periods to Tax Over” field is gone, replaced by the “Future-dated leave” field.

When future dated leave is present, a warning is displayed on the Leave Management window:

Note, changing an employees standard pay (for example, by giving them a payrise) will not recalculate any future-dated-leave that they’re taking.  Remember to reset their pay to standard amounts and reenter the future dated leave if someones hourly rate/salary changes while you’re processing pays.

Termination Wizard updated:

New Employee List button:
To make it easier to see basic details about your employees, you can now click the  button to open the employee list:

The new Pays List button  works similarly to show a list of all pays that have been processed:

Long Service and alternative leave types can now be cashed up:

The Custom payslip report can now display Cashed-Up leave:

Note, if you’ve already customised your payslip, you will need to reset it to standard, and reapply your customizations to see the new fields.

Reports now save with better names:

New Summary option available for general ledger posting to Exo Business (Previous versions always posted Detailed information):

Due to the indepth nature of the changes to how leave is processed, I strongly recommend reading the full MYOB release notes with this release.  If you’d like to talk to someone about the changes, please contact your consultant.
